Playing with lights and shadows
by Administrator on April 11, 2011
I know almost nothing about the technical aspects of camera. But in the process of photographing my lastest baking project, I discovered some neat tricks.
In the past, I tend to take indoor photos with lower shutter speed. However, I’m realizing when photos become too bright, it’s hard to enhance or manipulate afterward. With that in mind, I took my indoor photos with short exposure time. With the unusually bright natural light ont he backdrop, the photos came out with dramatic lights and shadows. Also, a lot more details were retained than when over-exposed.
The technique doesn’t make good food photography, but certainly make this ordinary kitchen scene a lot more interesting.

I think it did a great job with your food! It gave it a very
cinematic quality. Well done, and thanks for explaining your process! I will copy it now. hehe.
